Silk Screen
Summer 2008 had all eyes focussed on the Beijing Olympics. Here, in Britain, BBC Video Nation celebrated the Games by encouraging individuals from Chinese communities throughout Britain to produce over 50 short films about their lives, their work and their pastimes. This culminated in a day of simultaneous outdoor film screenings and live events in four cities on Saturday, 19th July. In London’s Leicester Square, The Meridian Society assisted event organisers Tish Francis Associates, Emergency Exit Arts and River Cultures in the coordination of artistes, performers and community participants to create a memorable day of fun and activity.
